DIED - July 25th, 1860, James Buchanan, infant son of A.S. and Barbara S. Chase, aged 10 months and ? days.

Why should we mourn dear son for thee,
Since God has thought it for the best,
To call you to himself on high to be,
Where thee will for ever be at rest.

How sorrowful we watched the night and day,
And listened for thy every gasping breath,
But all thy suffering are forever laid,
And thy lips forever sealed in death.

'Tis true it greaved our hearts [illegible] thee,
Our loved one torn by death away,
Into the cold and silent grave to be,
Forever and ever a tenement of clay.

Oh, may thy parents more submissive be,
And meekly bow to the senurging rod,
Who, knowing that our little son is free,
To live in Heaven with all the heirs of God.
