Elkader Register, Thur., 02 Aug. 1888.
A telephone dispatch announces the death of Henry Ihde's child of Garnavillo. The sad event occurred on Tuesday morning. A misunderstanding of the receiver at the phone made the message read that it was the father who had died, and the Herold so announced. It caused quite an excitement among the friends of Mr. Ihde, as he had been known to be in perfect health. When the correction arrived it was to late to announce it in the Herold.
