Elkader Register, Thur., 27 Oct. 1887.

Mrs. Englehart, Sr., residing near St. Olaf, died on Sunday last, at the advanced age of 70 years. Some time since she suffered a stroke of paralysis, which finally resulted in her death. She leaves an aged husband and several grown children to mourn her death.

Notes: Burial is in the Clayton Center cemetery with her husband John, who died in 1901. His obituary names her as Maria Smith, noting that "his faithful companion dying Oct. 23, 1887"
