McKellar, Hugh died 1887

Elkader Register, Thur., 21 July 1887.

Hugh McKellar, one of the early settlers of Highland township, and for many years one of the prominent citizens, died on Thursday last, at the advanced age of 87 years. Mr. McKellar located in that township in 1853, and consequently had been a resident for more than thirty years. He had amassed considerable property by his labor, and was universally respected. The funeral occurred on Friday afternoon, his remains being laid away to their final rest in Highland cemetery. Several grown children are left to mourn his loss.
