DIED - In Putney, Vermont, March 17th, 1860, while on a visit at that place, Charles Edward, only child of Charles F. and Harriet A. Remick, of McGregor, Iowa, aged [possibly 6 or 8] months and 7 days. Disease was of the Lungs and Throat.

"Death loves a shining mark,"

The bereaved parents will return to their western home with heavy hearts.

Related to the death notice above:

C.F. Remick, Esq. and his excellent lady have returned to McGregor. We welcome Mrs. R. to the social and Charley to the legal and business circles of McGregor. If you have any insurance to effect call on him.

~Weekly North Iowa Times, Wednesday, April 18, 1860; pg 2

Note: It is the contributor's opinion that it's likely that the child was buried in Vermont since the parents returned to McGregor a few weeks after their son passed away. Unlikely they brought the body with them.
