Clayton County Journal, 18 Aug. 1886.

Ray, the oldest son of Mr. A. V. Olds, of Clayton, was drowned while bathing in the Mississippi river, at that place, Saturday evening. Ray was a bright lad, about eleven years old, whom many of our people will undoubtedly remember as a visitor to the family of County Treasurer Chas. Ruegnitz, last week, only returning to his home Friday, the day before the sad, untimely ending of his young life. Mrs. Chas. Ruegnitz and family attended the funeral which was held at 10 o'clock, Monday.
