Clayton County Journal, 03 Feb. 1886.

DIED- At McGregor, Jan. 24th, '86, Mrs. E. W. Nichols, of heart disease, aged (looks like 65) years.

1880 US census, Mendon twp. enumerated Wm E. Nichols (66y, born VT)
Betsy Mary Nichols (62y, born NH)
Justus Nichols (31y, born NY)

The 1885 Iowa State census, Mendon twp. enumerated E.W. Nichols (64y), his wife Betsy (62y) and son Justus (28y). E.W. & Betsy were shown to be born in NY and Justus in WI
