Charley F. Schmidt died on the home farm in Farmersburg township, Friday, May 29th, of pulmonary hemorrhage, after an illness of only two hours.
Mr. Schmidt was born February 18, 1869, in Farmersburg township, the son of Carl and Marie Schmidt. February 11, 1892, he was married in Clayton Center to Louisa Mueller and to this union four children were born, three of whom, together with the widow and two brothers survive to mourn his passing.
Mr. Schmidt was a lifelong resident of this county, having been a native son of Clayton County, he followed the business of farming and was a member of the Clayton Center Lutheran church. His passing will be felt not only by his relatives but friends as well.
Those who mourn his passing are the widow, Mrs. Chas. F. Schmidt, two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Ihde, St. Olaf; Mrs. Wm. Staack, St. Olaf, and one son, Fred Schmidt, St. Olaf. Two brothers, William and Julius Schmidt, Elkader, also survive.
Funeral services were held in the Lutheran church in Clayton Center Monday, June 01, and interment was made in the cemetery there, the Rev. B. Korte officiating.
