Jacob Fredrick Rentschler was born January 28, 1865, at Wittenberg, Germany. He came to America at the age of twenty-two years in the year 1887. He remained in New York for a short time and then came to Clayton county, where he spent the remainder of his life.
On May 14, 1889, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Rodas, and to this union seven children were born.
He died Thursday morning, March 26, 1931, at 9 a.m., at the age of 66 years, one month and 28 days. He leaves to mourn him, his wife and seven children: two daughters, Mrs. Fred Smith and Mrs. Dewey Harbaugh; and five sons, Rudolph, Delbert, Mark, George and Clyde. Also surviving him are grandchildren, and one sister in Germany.
The funeral was held March 30, 1931, in the St. John's church at Garber, Iowa, and interment was made at Mt. Harmony cemetery at Elkport.
