Some years were spent farming in Jefferson township. Since 1876 her home has been in Garnavillo township where she died on the evening of Jan. 21, aged 87 years, 4 months and one day.

In 1862 she was united in marriage with John Hamman, who has preceded her in death. Four children were born to this pair of whom a daughter, Mrs. Amanda Marting, died in 1900.

Those remaining to mourn her death are John, who lived together with his mother; Henry, of Chicago and Mrs. Bertha Baxter, Los Angeles, Calif., one grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
