Elkader Register, Thur., 08 July 1920. Fairview column.
The funeral services of Chas. Wenkstrem*, Jr., were held from the home of his father on Wednesday afternoon of last week. Rev. Riggs had charge of the religious services and L. A. Zearly, of Garber, had charge of the body. The music was furnished by the choir of the Fairview church. Mr. Wenkstrem had been sick nearly a month and died following an operation for gall stones. He had just passed his 47th birthday. His birthplace was on Bear Creek in Elk township. While he was but a boy his father moved to the farm near the Advent schoolhouse where Chas. lived until 7 years ago when he bought a farm northeast of Edgewood in Lodomillo township and where his death occurred. He was married Aug. 23rd, 1906 to Miss Mary Amsden who with their oldest child survives him. Besides these his father and sister Mary, of this neighborhood and a brother, Will of Berlin, S. Dak., mourn the departure of the loved one. There are other close relatives and many friends who will miss his genial presence as the days go by. In spite of the busy time on the farm there was an extra large attendance at the services.
