Elkader Register, Thur., 08 Jan. 1920. Volga column.

Mr. Sucoo passed away at his home Thursday evening after several weeks illness. His death was not expected so soon. Mr. Succo has lived here less than two years, coming here from Clayton Center, Iowa. He and Mrs. J. F. Becker were united in marriage and came to Volga to live. He had made many friends while living here. His wife has the sympathy of the entire community in her sad bereavement. The funeral was held at Garnavillo Sunday.

Fred Suckow was born in Mecklenberg Schwerin, Germany, February 22, 1851 and died at his home in Volga City January 01, 1920, at 5:30 p.m., age 68 years, 10 months and 8 days, after an illness of about six months.

He was first married to Charlotte Matull, who preceded him in death in 1910, and to this union were born three children; one son died at the age of fifteen years, Helmuth of Guttenberg and Mrs. Amanda Meyers of Farmersburg township.

In May 1918 deceased was married to Mrs. Charlotte Becker of Volga City, which has been his home ever since. With the exception of the last year and a half Mr. Suckow had spent all years of his life in this county on his farm in Farmersburg township where he was respected by all who knew him for he was a kind neighbor, a loving husband and a good father.

Funeral services were held Sunday morning January 04th at eight o'clock at the home and at one o'clock at the Lutheran Church at Garnavillo, Rev. Braun officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery at Garnavillo.
