Mr. Joseph K. Read, formerly a resident of this County, died at Marysville, Yuba county, California, on the 17th of December last.

Mr. Read was a son of Captain Robert R. Read, and was well known to the older settlers of this neighborhood, and was by them highly respected as an upright, honest man.

Aout four years ago he emigrated to California, where he resided until his death. He has left a wife and two children to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father; and his aged parents lament the death of an affectionate son.
