Elkader Register, 10 Sept. 1885.

County Clerk Corlett has been notified of the death of S. G. Butts, of Garnavillo township, which occurred at the insane asylum at Independence, Aug. 8th, 1885. Cause of death, exhaustion. Mr. Butts was a prosperous farmer of Garnavillo township, but some time ago became afflicted with the terrible malady which caused his death, and became so violent that it was necessary to take him to the asylum.
