Clayton County Register, 08 July 1885. Monona column.

DIED - July 4th, 1885, Miss Emma, daughter of Leonard H. Howe, of Giard township, of paralysis. The deceased was born in Clayton County September 28th, 1864, and has resided in the county most of her life. She was highly respected and esteemed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Her funeral on the afternoon of the 5th was largely attended, the Rev. H. A, Campbell of Monona, officiating, whose eulogy remarks and sympathizing prayers will long be remembered by those who heard them. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.
