Elkader Register, 03 June 1885.

At the home of his parents, in Volga township, on Wednesday, May 27th, 1885, occurred the death of Alfred, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Eberhard; aged 13 years. He was taken with diptheria, about a week before his death, and despite the best of care, fell a victim to that dread destroyer. He was buried on Thursday.
