On Saturday morning, May 16th, our community was shocked by the news of the death of Mrs. Katie J. Dillon, which occurred at 3 o'clock that morning. For about two weeks she had been suffering from an attack of typhoid fever, and about a week before her death she was pronounced out of danger by the attending physician, and her death was therefore unexpected.

Katie J. Morrison was born in Rochester, N.Y., in March, 1854, and was therefore 31 years, two months and ten days of age at the time of her death. When she was about three years of age her parents removed to Clayton County, locating at Volga City. In 1879, she was married to Christopher Dillon, and by him had four children, who with her husband are left to mourn her loss. She also leaves a mother, two sisters and a brother, who will mourn her loss greatly.

For several years deceased had been one of the best teachers in Clayton county, and was well known in this vicinity. She was an affectionate wife and a kind mother. In whatever walk of life, she was esteemed and respected by all. She was a good Christian, and a faithful worker in the field of Christianity. Her remains were laid away to their final rest in the Catholic cemetery in this township.
