Elkader Register, 03 Sept. 1884.

On Saturday evening, August 30th, 1884, at the home of her parents in Elkader, occurred the death of Ava Palmer, aged a little over 17 years. Ava had been a sufferer for a long time, and it was apparent that she could not last long, yet death was none the less a severe blow to the loving parents and friends who greatly mourn her loss. She was always cheerful and pleasant and was beloved by all who knew her. The funeral occurred on Sunday, and was quite largely attended. May the Lord, who in His mercy tempers the wind to the shorn lamb, comfort the sorrowing ones with a reflection that she has gone to a better home.
