Elkader Register, Thur., 30 Dec. 1880. Elkport column.

Since our last letter the angel of death again visited the home of Joseph Putz and carried off two more of his darlings. He still has two children very low with diphtheria.

Note: Joseph & Anna Putz lost at least 5 children to diphtheria in 6 weeks, 1880-1881: John, Anna, Catherine, Ellen & James
