Elkader Register, Thur., 20 May 1880.

Jud. Steel, the Strawberry Point stage driver, furnishes us with the particulars of a sad accident which occurred at that place Tuesday. The Hilliard & Demott circus company were erecting the center pole of their tent when it fell, striking a 10 year old son of Peter Deyo on the head, injuring him so severely that he died in 2 hours. It was a very sad affair and the bereaved parents have the sympathy of all in their sad affliction. The funeral occurred yesterday at 10 o'clock a.m.
