Elkader Register, Thur., 15 Jan. 1880. Strawberry Point clippings, undated.

Mrs. John Childers died at this place January 6th, 1880, after a long illness.

DIED - In Strawberry Point Jan. 6th, 1880, Mrs. Childers, wife of Mr. John Childers, Sr.

Thus is another old resident removed from our midst. Mrs. Childers for many years has lied in Strawberry Point and was known to every one as a kind friend and neighbor and an earnest and consistent Christian. She has been confined to her bed for many months but has patiently borne her sufferings. Her dath thugh not unexpected will cause sorrow not only to the bereaved husband and children but to all who know her.

The remains of Mrs. Childers were taken this morning to Elizbeth, Ill., her former home, for interment. It was one of this good lady's last requests that this should be done.

Note:
Katherine is buried in Woodbine cemetery, Woodbine, Jo Daviess Co., Illinois. Her husband John T. Childers (died 1883) is buried in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
