Elkader Register, Thur., 31 Mar. 1898.

Wednesday morning March 30th, death invaded the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. Fitzpatrick and their daughter Carrie was taken. She was born Feb. 10th, 1891, and was aged 7 years and 20 days. She has been a sufferer for most of the time for the past two years, and although having every care that medical skill and loving parents could give she has passed away. That she is with the pure in heart and suffers no more, is some consolation to the sorrowing family, but does not take away the wish that she might have been spared to them in health. The funeral was held this morning from St. Joseph's church, attended by many relatives and friends of the family. The following six little girls dressed in white, headed by Pearl Maher as cross bearer, served as pall bearers: Clara Niemeyer, Mamie Dunn, Clo. Keleher, Mamie Maley, Jennie Curtin and Louise Hofer.
