Another of our old settlers and an esteemed citizen has answered the summons to the land of promised reward, Col. John O'Brien was born in County Tiperary, Ireland, and came to America about 33 years ago, twenty years of which he has resided upon the farm in Giard township.He died Sunday night, his death sudden and unexpected. His age was 72 years.
The funeral was held at the Catholic church on Tuesday, and was largely attended, 55 teams in the procession that followed his remains from the old homestead to the church. Father Reilly conducted the impressive and in a short sermon forcibly illustrated the good qualities of the deceased, who was well and favorably known in this section of the country, ad admired for his sturdy, firm and positive character and as a good citizen and neighbor.
A large circle of relatives mourn the loss of the aged Patriarch, while personal friends of the family and many associates with the deceased during his long and eventful life in our midst, deeply sympathise[sic] with the bereaved.
