Elkader Register, Fri., 21 Aug. 1896. Local column.

S. Gotham, a respected citizen, about 80 years of age, committed suicide at Strawberry Point on Sunday. He had been in poor health for several years. While his wife was at church and Sunday school he went to the barn and hung himself.
