Elkader Register, Fri., 14 Aug. 1896.
It is with a deep feeling of regret that we are called upon to mention the sudden death on Saturday evening, Aug. 8th, 1896, at her home in Highland twp., of Mrs. John Kerr.
She was the only daughter of Ernst Meisner, and was born Dec. 23rd, 1865. On April 2d, 1891, she married John Kerr.
On August 1st, a second daughter, Clara Christina, was born, and everything seemed to be well with the mother and child, when, suddenly the precious life of the mother passed away, leaving two little girls, Agnes, aged 4, and the baby and a grief stricken husband, a father and brothers and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon. Brief services were held at the house, then the large concourse of sympathizing friends went to the Highland church where Rev. F. L. Fisk, of Elkader, officiated. Appropriate music was furnished by the choir. The interment was made in the church cemetery.
