Elkader Register, Thur., 07 Mar. 1895.
Saturday, March 2, Mrs. Catharine Uriell, passed away to the life beyond, after many years of suffering from Rheumatism, which she has borne with the patience of a martyr, trusting that He who doeth all things well would in time bring peace and happiness.
Catharine Sullivan was born in Cork, Ireland, in 1827; in 1841 she came to Canada and the same year came to Iowa, locating at Dubuque. In 1849 she was united in marriage to Michael Uriell, one of the first settlers of Read twp. Here she has resided forty-six years, honored and beloved by all. Of the seven children born to them, one son Frank J. Uriell, survives, who with the husband and many relatives will keep ever green the memory of the dear departed who has ceased to suffer and found rest
The funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church, Garnavillo, solemn high mass being celebrated by Rev. Fathers Reilly, of Elkader, Roedler, of Garnavillo, and Coyle of Clermont.
