Elkader Register, Thur., 21 Feb. 1895.

At about 4 o'clock yesterday morning, Feb. 19th, John Finley, one of the most estimable citizens of Highland twp., passed away, having been afflicted with a complication of the grippe. He settled in Highland about 30 years ago and was known as a devoted Christian and an honest, honorable man in every respect. He leaves an aged life, one brother, a sister, Mrs. Kerwin, and an adopted son, Mr. Jas. Foran, of Read twp. The funeral will be held Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock at St. Joseph church when solemn high mass will be celebrated.
