Elkader Register, Thur., 14 Feb. 1895.

Mrs. Margaret Barrett, one of the oldest residents of Read twp., died at her home on the 8th inst. She was born in Ireland and came to this county at an early age. She was the mother of Ed Barrett of Read, and an aunt of Thos. H. Barrett of Castalia. The funeral was held at the Catholic church at Garnavillo on Monday, Father Reilly, of St. Joseph's church, being in attendance. Peace be with her.
