Henry F. W. Bothmer.
At Clayton, on Saturday, Sept. 23, 1893, H. F. W. Bothmer laid down the cares of life and departed. He was born at Melderschen, Hanover, Germany, July 22, 1813, and came to America in 1848. At Berlin, Pa., in 1851, he married Caroline Loescher, who survives him. Coming to Clayton in 1851, he engaged in his trade as miller for thirteen years with Krueger & Co., and seven years at Kennedy's mill on Buck creek. Besides the wife and companion of years, he leaves two sons, H. C. and C. W. Bothmer, and five daughters, Mrs. J. M. Seipel, Mrs. Charles Dettman, Mrs. Charles Hinch, Mrs. Fritz Gossmann and Mrs. Julius Ponsor.
The funeral took place Monday under the auspices of the Garnavillo lodge of Odd Fellows, of which the deceased was and old and honored member. A sermon was delivered by Father Seifert and an eloquent address made by Dr. de Fries, of Guttenberg. The Sang Verein, of Elkader, also assisted in the last sad rites.
