Elkader Register, Thur., 13 Apr. 1893. Updegraff column.
We are pained to chronicle the death of another old pioneer in the person of Samuel Peck, who passed to the great beyond at his home on Sunday night. Mr. Peck having been a sufferer from rheumatism for the past two years, has not been able to leave his bed during that time. He came to this county in an early day and by his honesty and toil he leaves a home surrounded by all the comforts of life. Mr. Peck had many warm friends all over the county who will deeply mourn when they hear of his death. He leaves a wife and several grown up sons and daughters to mourn the loss of a loving companion and a kind and affectionate father. His remains were laid to rest in the Brown cemetery.
