Elkader Register, Thur., 06 Sept. 1894. Elkport column.

Old Man Hilton, aged 84 years, was found dead at his place in Mallory Twp. Doctor Kriebs was called to hold an inquest, the Jury decided that the old gentleman died of natural causes.

Notes:
-This is more than likely John S.D. Hilton, h/o Catherine (age 71). He is shown as deceased on the 1895 Iowa State Census, Mallory twp., aged 81. Also in household is (?)onson Schellerman, age 24.

-Burial site unknown.
