Elkader Register, Thur., 09 Aug. 1894. Volga column.

Last Tuesday, July 31, occurred the death of little Merrill Hawthorne whom we reported very ill in our last letter. The funeral services were held on Wed. in the Union church at Volga Rev. Crousaz officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Volga cemetery. Although this has been a solemn sight to many as well as to the bereaved parents, still we know that we are all born into this world for a purpose which our Heavenly Father alone knows, although little Merrill was less than a year old he had fulfilled his mission and has gone to that brighter world above to enjoy that peace and happiness which the dear Father had in mind when he said "Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
