John Romig brought his youngest boy here from Aurora for burial Thursday. The funeral services were held in the schoolhouse and the attendance was quite large. John has many friends here who sympathize with him and his estimable wife in their sad affliction.

Elkader Register, Thur., 14 June 1894. Local columns.
DIED - On Wednesday, June 6th, at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Romig, at Aurora, Iowa, Elmer Romig, aged 14 years, 3 months and 22 days. He was born near Littleport, Feb. 14, 1880. From the Mail we learn that while the boy had never known good health, yet death was unexpected and found the family all unprepared for the sudden call. He had eaten breakfast as usual and had been playing around the house all the morning in apparent good health when his mother heard him cry out, and turning found him writhing on the floor. Drs. Parker and Dittmer were hastily called, but he was too far gone to rally, dying in about ten minutes from his first attack. The funeral was held at Littleport on Thursday last, attended by many friends of the family.
