Yesterday about noon occurred the death of Mrs. F. H. Schmidt, of this place, after a illness of little more than a week.

Mary J. Meisner was born in Sperry township, this county, August 10th, 1865, and was therefore 26 years, 4 months and 6 days at the time of her death. She resided with her parents within a few miles of Elkader until November 4th, 1886, when she was married to Mr. F. H. Schmidt, of this place, and since then they have lived among us. One child, a little son, is left with a disconsolate father to mourn the death of mother and wife.

Mrs. Schmidt was very highly esteemed by all, and her death will be universally mourned in our community where she had won so many friends by her kindly ways.

It seems very sad that one so young loved as she should be called to the home beyond the grave, and all will tender their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved husband and relatives.

The funeral will take place to-morrow, Friday afternoon, from the family residence on Front street, at one o'clock.
