DIED - At her home in Garnavillo, on Saturday, July 11, Mrs. H. H. Schierholz. She had arrived at the advanced age of 72 years and had suffered severely for the past month. Death came as a relief, and she welcomed it as a true Christian. During her life she has tasted much of this life's joys, mingled also with bitter sorrow. During all she bore herself with patience and fortitude. Anna Adelheid Schierholz, nee Tangeman, was born October 30, 1818, in Harpstaedt, Hannover, Germany, and emigrated with her parents to Anglaize county, Ohio. In September, 1836, she married her surviving husband, with whom she lived for nearly fifty- five years, in joy and sorrow, a true helpmate, patient and forbearing. The fruits of this union was twelve children, ten of whom survive, all married. In 1847 they disposed of their farm in Ohio and came to Clayton county, Iowa, where they settled on a farm in Read township, where they lived until 1888, when they came to Garnavillo. The funeral occurred on Monday, Rev. Ziemer officiating.
