Elkader Register, 07 May 1891. Updegraff column.
The community will be shocked at the announcement of the death of Mrs. John Coliwinski which took place shortly after three o'clock Tuesday morning at her home at this place. She had been in poor health for the past six months from consumption, but her death was sudden and unexpected, for in the evening she was comparatively better. She was born in Indiana and was 33 years old. Mrs. Coliwinski was quiet, unobtrusive and domestic in her habits, and generous in the best sense of the word. She died as she had lived, a true, sincere, humble Christian. She leaves a husband and five children to mourn the loss of a kind and loving wife and an affectionate mother. The sympathy of all will freely go out to them in their sad bereavement. Funeral services were conducted at the house of the deceased, Rev. Hansel officiating.
