On Sunday night, April 25, Mrs. Henry Cook, of Marion township, departed this life after only three days illness from heart disease. Deceased was born in Bavaria, Germany, November 16th, 1827, her maiden name being Mary Backman. On June 27th, 1845, she was united in marriage to Henry Cook, to whom she has borne thirteen children, ten of whom are living, among them being Jacob Cook, of Elkader. She and her husband were among the oldest settlers of Marion, having settled there in 1858. The family has the sympathy of their friends in their loss of a faithful companion and a kind and affectionate mother

The funeral took place on Tuesday last, the burial being on the farm in Marion township, Rev. Mr. Perry, of Elkader, officiating.

Of heart disease, on Saturday night, April 25th, occurred the death of Mrs. Henry Cook, of Marion township, after a short illness of three days.

Mrs. Cook was born in Bavaria, Germany, November 15, 1827, and was married to Henry Cook, who now survives her, June 27, 1845.

In 1858 she came with her husband to this county and settled on a farm in Marion township, where they have since resided. She leaves a husband and ten children to mourn the loss of a faithful wife and loving mother.

The funeral, conducted by Rev. J.D. Perry, took place at the family residence on Tuesday the 28th, after which she was laid to rest upon the farm where she had lived for so many years.
