DIED - George Hazlett, of this place, on Thursday, January 29th, at 2:00 o'clock a.m. Deceased was born in Ireland in 1824. He emigrated to this country in 1849, and in 1851 he settled upon the site of his late home, three and one-half miles east of Monona. In 1853 he was married to Jane Whitaker, which happy union had never been marred or broken until the rude hand of death reached forth and dessolated the happy union, leaving a loving wife and the children which providence had seen fit to bless them with. Deceased was a good man and held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was one of the pioneers who hewed their way through the many perils of frontier life, and saw their labors crowned with success. He was a devout man, reared in the Presbyterian church, and a member of the M.E. church at Monona since 1873. The sympathy of the entire community is with the bereaved family. The funeral services took place at his late home Saturday, January 31st, at 2:00 o'clock p.m. Rev. D. Weeks officiating. The remains were interred in the cemetery at Monona, the funeral being attended by all his neighbors and numerous friends.
