Charles Peake, a resident of Cox Creek township, passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. Alfred Schneider, here this morning at about 2:00 o'clock at the age of 49 years. Mr. Peake came to the home of his sister several weeks ago to receive medical treatment. He is survived by his wife, nine children, his aged parents, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held (next few words blurred) at his late home and at 2:00 o'clock at Volga City.

DEATH SUMMONS CHARLES PEAKE.
Charlie Peake, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Peake, was born on Sept. 25, 1874, at Brainard, Iowa, and departed this life on Nov. 01, 1923, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Alf. Schneider, at Elkader, Iowa, aged 49 years, 1 month and 6 days.
On Nov. 27, 1900, he was united in marriage to Miss Rose Schneider and to this union eleven children were born, two of whom preceded their father in death. The living children, who are all at home near Mederville, are: Earle, Clarence, Wilbur, Addie, Frank, Fleet, Florence, Hugh and Victor.
Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his death his aged father and mother, two brothers, Chester of Elgin, Iowa, and Elmer of Elkader, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Mary Schneider of Elkader, Iowa, and many other relatives and a great host of friends.
Mr. Peake has lived on the farm near Mederville for the past nineteen years. He was a conservative man, was loyal and generous to his friends and knew not what an enemy was. He was fond of company and enjoyed his happiest moments when his family, relatives and friends were gathered about him. He was a hard working, honest man, he was a loving husband and an indulgent father, and as a good neighbor and trusted citizen, no better could be found.
Charlie Peake will be missed from the neighborhood of his home by those associated with him in the various activities of life.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at Volga City Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the services being conducted by Rev. A. R. Smith of Volga. Interment was made in the Hill Crest cemetery. - Volga City News.
