A man named James Hoag was found dead near McGregor on Thursday last. His gun was beside him, one barrel discharged, the other cocked. He was shot through the heart.

A Jury was called by Esqr. Hurlbut, and the body examined. In getting over the fence by which the body laid, it is probable the gun went off accidentally.

The deceased had friends near Colesburgh, Iowa; he was about 26 years old, had worked in this neighborhood and bore an excellent character. We have heard but few particulars.
