Elkader Register, Thur., 29 Mar. 1923. Strawberry Point column.
William Dean Blanchard, the three years and four months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Blanchard, passed away last Saturday. The little one had never been well, having had trouble with his head, and a few months ago became worse and it was discovered that the little fellow had gone blind and suffered terrible so the parents took him to Dubuque to consult specialists, but with no encouragement. On returning home his parents, grandparents and others who cared for him gave him the best of care and no more will his troubles and wants be calmed by their soothing hand. Not yet four years old, little Dean's sunny disposition and loving willing ways made him a large place in the hearts of all who knew him, especially in the home nest where he was tenderly loved. God needed one more jewel in his angel throng so he bore his spirit heavenward into perfect peace and bless, henceforth free from all pain and suffering. Gone from earth, but safe in the arms of the gentle Jesus, who so loved the little children that he took them into his arms and blessed them. Besides his parents, he leaves a brother Burton and sister Betty and many relatives and friends who mourn his early death and most deeply sympathize with those in the broken family circle called upon to part with so much of the sunshine of their home. Funeral services occurred at the home Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. Kirbry and many beautiful flowers covered the little white casket. Interment took place in the local cemetery.
