Helen, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Roberts, of this place, passed away Saturday afternoon of pneumonia, following an attack of influenza at Cedar Rapids. Miss Helen was born in Strawberry Point in December, 1899. She graduated from our public high school with the class of 1918 and in Sept. 10th left for Cedar Rapids to attend Coe College. She was taken ill Monday, Oct. 14th, her parents at once were summoned and as soon as possible were at her bedside and all that medical aid and loving hands could do were done but of no avail and the white winged messenger took this sweet young life. Her death has cast a gloom over the entire community. She became a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Aug. 9th. Death loves a shining mark and at all times hard to bear but when the only child is taken away it seems more than the parents can stand. Sorrowing parents and relatives mourn her death, together with scores of friends. The body arrived here Monday and the remains laid to rest in our beautiful cemetery Tuesday afternoon.
