Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 01 Aug. 1918. Strawberry Point columns.

On June 24, 1860 a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Huebner, Sr., at St. Sebald. In his baptism he received the names John Henry. After he had been instructed in the Lutheran faith he was confirmed by his pastor, Rev. Fuehr, when he was a lad of thirteen years. He was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Mattison on March 7, 1882. To this union four children were born, two sons and two daughters, one son dying in infancy and one daughter, Miss Marie, departed this life Feb. 19, 1918. Those surviving are Mrs. Helene Baarsch, of Spring Valley, Minn., and Fred, still at home. In former years Mr. Huebner was blessed with a strong constitution, but about fourteen years ago, when by accident, he had lost one eye, his strong health began to fail. Dec. 11, 1916, he went to Buffalo, Wyoming, with the hope of recovery and returned Sept. 14, 1917, without finding any relief. His sickness was at times painful, especially so in the last months, slowly was he growing weaker until the good Lord relieved him of all pains, calling him home on last Friday morning at 3:15 at the age of 58 years, 2 months and 2 days. Those surviving are his mourning widow, one daughter and one son, one sister, Mrs. C. Eckhoff, of Twin Lakes, Minn., and other relatives. Funeral services occurred at the Lutheran church Sunday morning, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Fritschel, and the remains were laid to rest in the Strawberry Point cemetery. The floral offerings were beautiful and many people who came to pay their last respect to a friend, turned away on account of the church being crowded. The relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baarsch and Henry Lagging, of spring Valley, Minn.; Mrs. C. Eckhoff, of Twin Lakes, Minn., and Mr. August Maxwell, of Epworth.
