Anna Maria Meyer, nee Werges, was born on Dec. 10, 1835, at Ellerbeck, Schledehausen, Hanover. In 1850, the deceased, in company with her brother Friederich, and sister Maria, came to America, going to Potsmouth, Ohio, where a brother resided. The coming year they came to Clayton County, Iowa. On Oct. 28, 1853, she married Ludwig Hy. Meyer. This union was blessed with twelve children, four children and the father, who died in 1914, preceded the mother in death. About ten weeks ago she was taken sick and gradually grew weaker until Thursday, Dec. 27, when death claimed her at the age of 82 years and 17 days.
Those left to mourn are: Mrs. Anna Benjegerdes, Remsen, Ia.; Mrs. Mina Splies, Monona; Wilhelm, Garnavillo; Mrs. Maria Zarbrock, Manly; Friedrick, Postville; Louis, Manly; Karl, Farmersburg; and Mrs. Elsie Tuecke, Manly; and seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday at St. Paul's church, Rev. K. Wm. Braun officiating.
