DIED - On Sabbath morning, Feb. 21st, of Typhoid Fever, the Rev. Joseph Bloomer, aged 28 years.
Mr. Bloomer first connected himself with the Church under the Ministry of Rev. J.C. Holbrook of Dubuque. He immediately set himself about preparing to preach the gospel. He pursued his Collegiate studies at Amherst, his theological at Andover, Massachusetts.
In the fall of '57 he married and settled in this place. His public life therefore was only of about three months duration. The messenger of death called for him when he was but just entering, hopefully, a life of usefulness.
