Jason Edward Matt, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Matt, died at their home near National, Monday, July 2, 1917, of bronchial pneumonia. Deceased was born October 29, 1909. Sadly afflicted since birth, the little one has made a brave fight for life, and all that medical skill and tender care and watchfulness could do was done for the little one, but of no avail, and when taken sick not quite a week before his death, his frail little body could not withstand the struggle and he returned to the one who has said "Suffer little children and forbid them not to come unto me, for such is the kingdom of Heaven." The funeral was held from the home at one o'clock, Thursday, conducted by Rev. Boscholm, of Garnavillo, interment being in the National cemetery. He is survived by his parents and two sisters, Florence and Lillian, besides numerous other relatives.
