Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 24 May 1917.
On Saturday, May 19th, at the home of her son Henry, at Three Corners, Boardman township, Mrs. Regina Brust passed away after an illness that lasted several years.
Mrs. Brust was 91 years, 6 months and 24 days old at the time of her death, having been born Oct. 25th, 1825, in Grossweier, Germany, her maiden name being Jerger. When she was twenty-one years of age she came to America and direct to Clayton county. The same year, 1846, she was married to Jacob Brust. The entire life of both these people was spent in this county and in the occupation of farming.
Five children blessed their union, two sons and three daughters. They are: Mrs. Katherine Herwig, of West Union; Mrs. Louise Brabander, of LeMars; Mrs. Clara Harms, of Flat Willow, Mont.; John Brust, of LeMars, and Henry Brust, of Three Corners. Besides these, twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-two greatt-grandchildren survive her.
The husband, Jacob Brust, died in 1894, and for the past twenty-three years Mrs. Brust made her home with her son Henry and his wife, where she received the best of care.
The cause of her death was old age and cancer, having been in poor health for a number of years.
The funeral was held at one o'clock on the afternoon of Monday, May 21st, at the home of her son, where she had spent so many years. The officiating clergyman was Rev. C. H. Franke, of Elkader Ev. Frieden's church, and interment was in the Communia cemetery.
