Last Sunday as James Currie was on his way to get the mail, he fell to the sidewalk unconscious. Larry Thompson, who had just driven up to the post office, picked him up and carried him to his son's home, nearly three blocks away. All efforts to revive him were fruitless and he soon passed away. James Currie was born in Ohio, August 27th, 1828. He was married to Louise Fairbanks sixty-two years ago in East Dubuque. Mr. and Mrs. Currie celebrated their golden wedding anniversary twelve years ago. On January 12th, 1912, Mrs. Currie passed away. Of six children but two survive their aged father - Dr. A. L., of Monona, and Chas. E., of Des Moines. Mr. Currie has made his home with his son, Dr. A. L. Currie, during his declining years. During his active life Mr. Currie was a carpenter, following that profession at the time of his marriage. For a number of years he was foreman carpenter for the Illinois Central. Last April marked the close of the fiftieth year of Mr. Currie's membership in the Masonic Order. He is survived by one brother, Samuel, of Toledo, Ohio, and one sister, Mrs. Chas. Eddy, of Winne_ka, Ill. On Sunday night Doctor and Mrs. Currie accompanied the remains to Earlville, Iowa, where the funeral and interment occurred Monday, January 22nd. The other son, Chas. E., of Des Moines, was prevented from being present by illness.
