Daniel Haggerty, one of the oldest and highly esteemed residents of Clayton county, died at his home near Watson, April 19, 1909, after a short illness, at the age of 84 years. Mr. Haggerty was a resident of this county 50 years. He was born in County Kerry, Ireland, came to this country in 1859, settled in Columbus, Ohio, where he married Katherine Dolan. Seven children were born to this union, which were, John, Mary, James, William, Daniel, Margaret and Katherine, all of whom survive him. Later he moved to Iowa, where he has since been a resident, his wife Katherine, died in 1873. He later married Kiss Bridget Delaney, who with two children, Jerry and Johanna, survive him. The remains were laid to rest on Wednesday morning at St. Mary's cemetery, McGregor, Iowa.
