Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 11 Mar. 1909.
Mrs. Frederick, wife of Henry Frederick, departed this life at her home in Strawberry Point Monday, March 1st, at 4:30 p.m., at the age of 47 years, 4 months and 21 days.
The funeral services were held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., at the German Lutheran church and were conducted by Rev. Graf and were attended by a great throng of friends and neighbors of the good woman.
Elizabeth Schug, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schug of this city, was born in Romonburg, Germany, October 11th, 1861. When about three years of age she emigrated with her parents to the United States and settled near Strawberry Point.
On December 16th, 1882, she was united in marriage to Henry Frederick, and lived on a farm near town until last year when they moved to town. Mrs. Frederick's health was so poor it was thought best to be nearer a physician, but of no avail her health still kept failing. Last summer was the first symptoms of brain disease, and her physical and mental strength slowly vanished.
Ten children were born to this union, five preceding her and five remaining. Mrs. Kate Marquardt, August, Rose, Otto and Theodore, together with the husband, parents, brothers and sisters remain to mourn their loss.
To the bereaved ones the sympathy of all is extended.
